Dutch submariners showed that they "see" a torpedo released by a submarine

A fragment of a new documentary, filmed aboard a Dutch submarine, is devoted to what a launched torpedo "sees", starting from the exit from the torpedo tube.

Until now, the "kitchen" of the entire torpedo launch cycle by the gun crew was covered with a veil of secrecy simply because no one could see it. The filming was carried out aboard the HNLMS Walrus submarine of the Netherlands Navy using a video camera attached to the Mk. 48, which was fired with compressed air.

In a real naval battle, Mk. 48 is launched and then guided to the target along the wire. It can also detect and aim at targets using onboard sonar.
