First batch of US military Black Hornet microdrones goes to Afghanistan

In February of this year, it became known that the US Army is beginning to deploy the Black Hornet reconnaissance drones - tiny drones that fit in the palm of your hand. The total cost of the program is $ 39 million.

Servicemen of the 3rd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army will receive the first batch of drones in the near future. In particular, the 1st battalion of the brigade and the 508th infantry regiment will use them during military operations in Afghanistan. In case of successful use of drones, the rest of the brigade will also receive the Black Hornet at their disposal.

Each of the "hornets" is equipped with several cameras designed to take pictures of the surrounding area. Real-time video information will help soldiers avoid hazards in a combat situation.
