China expands fleet of commercial courier drones

Chinese companies intend to develop unmanned cargo delivery systems. To do this, they use cargo UAVs and high-speed ATVs, which will soon lead China to the world leaders in robotics.

The world's largest electronic trading platform, Alibaba, uses UAVs equipped with software from its subsidiary Ele.me to transport goods to delivery points, from where courier drivers deliver them directly to the customer. With the help of aircraft, the delivery time was reduced to 20 minutes. So far, the scope of UAV couriers is limited to the industrial area of Shanghai - Jinshan with an area of 22 square meters. km. However, in the near future, such areas will appear in other cities.

Another novelty from Alibaba is the G Plus four-wheeled robot courier capable of traveling at a speed of 16 km / h. Its uniqueness is added by three solid-state lidars with a laser navigation system. Once he arrives at his destination, customers unlock him with an app or password. A similar delivery robot will soon appear in the United States.

Beihang Unmanned Aircraft System Technology, together with Cainiao, are developing a 3.6-ton UAS unmanned aircraft system with a spacious 16 cubic meter cockpit. m. The aircraft is capable of carrying a cargo weighing 1 ton over a distance of 1.5 thousand km. Serial production of UAS is scheduled for 2025.
