Russian cruise missiles will be equipped with artificial intelligence

Modern strike weapons have a very important new characteristic - the presence of artificial intelligence. Boris Obnosov, head of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, announced the work on the creation of "smart" cruise missiles at the MAKS-2017 air show.

The missiles are intended for a promising long-range aviation complex (PAK DA), which is expected to make its first flight in 2 years. Unlike their predecessors, who destroyed the assigned targets under the control of the operator, the new missiles with AI will be able to independently make decisions on the choice of the target and the flight mode to it on the basis of the analysis of the air and radar situation without any "prompts".

The god of war, artillery, is also keeping pace with the times. Specialists of the St. Petersburg Scientific and Production Association "Pribor" have created a whole series of "smart" artillery ammunition of 57 mm caliber. In this case, the AI is equipped with a miniature fuse. Immediately after the shot - depending on the distance to the target - the computer enters into it information about the point of detonation of the ammunition.

So, for example, to defeat a small-sized drone will require a "shrapnel" mode of detonation, that is, several tens of meters before the target, the ammunition will explode, turning into a cloud of deadly balls.
