The Americans tested the Blitzer military railgun, which accelerates the projectile to a speed of Mach 6

The American company GA-EMS has confirmed the successful completion of tests of its Blitzer railgun. At the same time, the speed of the projectile was 6 times the speed of sound, and the acceleration was 30, 000 times the force of gravity.

Railguns have recently been positioned as a weapon of future wars, where electromagnetic energy and lasers will take the place of traditional explosives.

“It's time for us to say goodbye to gunpowder, ” said US defense analyst Alisson Barry. "The future belongs to lasers and electromagnetic guns."

To accelerate the projectile, rails inside a special chamber are used, which act as powerful electromagnets. The field they create gives the projectile enormous kinetic energy, which throws the projectile at the desired range by adjusting the field power.

So, thanks to this technology, it will be possible to accelerate the projectile to a speed of more than 7200 km / h. The projectile's hypersonic speed, combined with an accurate hit, is guaranteed to destroy almost any target on land, at sea and in mid-air.

According to military experts, electromagnetic weapons are safer and less expensive, since they do not contain explosives.
