The tests of a unique Russian device intended for the needs of the Ministry of Emergency Situations - Pikor-Bio have been completed. Its main purpose is to determine the location of the victims under the rubble, indicating the exact depth and number.
The authors of the development are the team of the Design Bureau of Experimental Works. In the near future, the device will become an indispensable assistant for rescuers working in the area of natural and man-made disasters. To detect victims, the device emits ultra-short radio pulses that perfectly pass through a variety of materials - brick walls, wooden beams, reinforced concrete floors, glass, furniture and much more.
Like an X-ray machine, it can see through the rubble a living heart and even the movement of the diaphragm. Pikor-Bio's "vision" can be envied. His all-seeing gaze is not hindered by a 40-cm brick wall, or a layer of sand about a meter thick, or a two-meter snowdrift, if there is a living person there. Pikor-Bio detects moving objects at a distance of 2-4 times further.
The device will not be a burden for rescuers. With dimensions of 41 x 27 cm, it weighs only about 2 kg. In addition to the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Federal Service for the Execution of Punishments had an eye on him. With its help, they are going to inspect goods at the exit from places of detention.
