Hardly any road vehicle really needs a top speed of 350 km / h. Like no other motorcycle in the world requires 200 hp. and torque like a minibus. These numbers are absolutely redundant, but the point is different - to be the fastest in the world. The electric bike Lightning LS-218 is just that. It will be the fastest production motorcycle in the world this summer.
The number 218 in the name of the bike means 218 miles per hour (350 km / h). It was this maximum speed that was developed during the tests. But, according to the developers, their bike will be able to go much faster. In any case, the speed achieved is already sufficient to set a new world record - the fastest mass-produced motorcycle. And Lightning LS-218 will begin production this summer in the USA.

The LS-218 is powered by a 200 hp liquid-cooled engine. (150 kW), which roughly corresponds to the fastest superbikes on the market. However, unlike them, the Lightning has a gigantic 228 Nm of torque. The feeling of acceleration on such a motorcycle will be overwhelming.
The fastest electric motorcycle has no clutch or gearbox. It uses a direct drive system. And various battery configuration options will be able to guarantee a maximum range of 290 km. It will take 30 minutes to fully charge the batteries, provided that a dedicated charger is used.
The LS-218's curb weight is about 224 kg. The chassis of the motorcycle uses only the highest quality components, such as Brembo brakes and Marchesini magnesium rims.
Only the finest quality parts - Öhlins FGRT forks and TTX struts
Lightning customers will not only be able to choose between different battery capacities. At an additional cost, you can order a frame and unsprung carbon fiber masses, a dashboard with a fully customizable touchpad on Android and an exclusive designer paintwork for the bike.
The exterior of the bike was designed by motorcycle designer Glynn Kerr.
It is very important that the fastest production motorcycle is the electric bike. This is a significant and significant step for the entire electric car industry, proving that an electric motorcycle can be not only a bicycle with a motor for a leisurely city ride, but also an aggressive uncompromising monster.
By the way, the last fastest production motorcycle was the Suzuki Hayabusa, which has been produced since 1999 and has a top speed of 312 km / h. Hayabusa translated from Japanese means a breed of peregrine falcon birds, accelerating at the moments of diving to 325 km / h.
