Mrs. Watkins woke up one morning to find that the river had flooded the entire first floor of her house.
Looking out of the window, she saw that the water was still rising. Two men on the boat offered to help her.
“No thanks, ” Mrs. Watkins replied. "The Lord will save me."
The men shrugged their shoulders and swam away.
Towards evening, the water level forced Mrs. Watkins to climb to the roof for safety. A man on a motor boat noticed her and offered to pick her up.
“Don't worry, ” she told him. "The Lord will save me."
Pretty soon Mrs. Watkins was forced to seek refuge in the chimney. As the Red Cross boat patrolled the area, she waved her hand, shouting, "The Lord will save me."
So the boat left, the water rose, and the old woman drowned.
Wet and terribly annoyed, she walked through the pearly gates and demanded to speak to God.
“What happened?” She exclaimed.
"No need to shout, lady, " God said, "I sent three boats!"
