DIY screw foundation for a house

The foundation is a laborious job in the construction of any building. It is carefully designed and depends on the load of the future house, the depth of the freezing soil, the bearing capacity of the soil, the weight of the building material, the type of roofing material, and the snow load. The screw foundation is erected on problem soils (sandy, peat), uneven slopes. It is also ideal as a base for light frame, timber, foam and aerated houses.

The poles themselves are made in the form of steel pointed pipes. On the lower part of the post there is a blade, with the help of which the piles are optimally anchored into the ground. An important factor in laying a screw foundation is the correct choice of piles, but you will also need a corner, an aluminum channel, concrete, and monolithic slabs.

The piles have different dimensions and are made from different grades of steel. Their quality is determined by the shape of the blade, the tip of which must have an asymmetric shape, otherwise the entry of the pile into the ground will not be easy and smooth. All of the above nuances must be taken into account when choosing a foundation material.

You can lay a screw foundation with your own hands, and it will cost much less than building a monolithic slab or strip foundation. Usually, the pillars are laid at the depth of freezing of the soil, at the intersections of the walls, in all corners and other external places. The recommended pitch of the posts is one and a half, two meters. No special equipment is required to secure the piles.

Several people can perform this work in a short period of time. After the piles are buried, they are leveled to a certain level, the excess protrusions are cut off. It is advisable to fill the hollow center of the piles with concrete. The next stage of work is fixing the heads using welding. The piles protruding above the surface are fastened together. The material for this can be a channel, a corner, a bar, a monolithic plate. The foundation is ready, you can safely continue the further construction of the building. With the correct technology for laying the screw foundation and good quality of the source material, you can be sure that it will last for more than a decade.
