SS and Little Nicky - The first cloned cat and cat in history

Pets are our most faithful friends and family members, and their loss becomes a real grief. Modern science reached the level of development to recreate the cloning method a full copy of the deceased animal - at least its appearance. Since the time of the famous sheep, Dolly, which appeared on July 5, 1996 and became the first cloned mammal in history, tens of animals were cloned. Among them there is a cat with a cat.

The first in the history of the cloned cat and the first cloned homemade pet in the world became the usual short-haired domestic cat, which was called "SS" - from the English words Copy Cat. The animal was born on December 22, 2001. However, the experiment was recognized as not until the end of successful - the SS had several other color of wool compared to his donor, which caused bewilderment from many people. Scientists explained that the difference is associated with a minor error made at the stage of epigenetic reprogramming. The rest of the tests have established that the Copy Cat is a complete copy of its donor named "Rainbow". CC observations showed that the animal is completely great and does not suffer from any genetic diseases. In a few years, CC gave birth to two completely healthy kittens.

Soon, one of the residents of Texas decided to use the fruits of scientists. In 2003, at the age of 19, her favorite cat on nicknamed "Niki" of the Main-Kun breed. His mistress appealed to the California company "GENETIC SAVINGS & CLONE" asking to create a clone of his pet. The work was estimated at $ 50, 000, and on October 17, 2004 the first in the history of a commercially cloned cat on the nickname "Little Niki" appeared. This time, externally, the cat was a complete copy of his genetic donor. The animal was recognized completely healthy without any genetic deviations. To this day, it feels great and lives with her mistress in Sunny Texas.

But, of course, neither CC nor little nicknames inherited their characters or behavior from their donors. Some habits due to pronounced instincts in cloned pets were similar, but no more. And this is not surprising: after all, cloning at the moment is only an attempt to repeat the appearance of the donor object without copying his memories, thoughts and feelings.
